Mobile's Flood

Just wanted to show everybody a pic of my mom & dad's house. Their pool sits way high on a hill. I guess about 10 to 12 ft up, so that should give you an idea of the depth of this water. That building at the far left is their bedroom. Mom said the water was inches from the house.

If you look closely to the right of the banana tree you'll see their fence as it disappears into the water.

My First Try Alone :)

Lawren just asked me if she could have an "allergy eater" fish.... :)

Anyway, this is my very first post all by myself. After reading Pat's blog for so long, I'm feeling a more than a little pressure to put my best foot forward. Sooooooo.......

Well, right now we have a guest staying with us. His name is David Ruis. He is a Vineyard Pastor, and worship leader in LA. That would be the real LA. The one in California, not
"Lower Alabama." He came down to help with the relief effort here and in New Orleans. Super nice guy; left a great first impression on us when he watched Gorgia Tech beat Auburn Saturday night. Any friend of football is a friend of ours :) or Pat's more accurately....

Things are pretty crazy around here as most of you might imagine. What with the population of Baton rouge more than doubling in a couple of days time. The bad news; you have to "know somebody" to get diapers or toilet paper. The good news; we are able to help.
Traffic is pretty bad, and gas is expensive, but all in all we have precious little to complain about.

The kids start school again tomorrow. May I just say..... YIPPIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think we all just have a bit of cabin fever. It will be good for all of us. Lawren's school, along with many others in Baton Rouge, will be recieving many new students from the New Orleans and surrounding areas. Be in prayer for these kids that they would feel a sense of acceptance and safety for them. Also, there are orphans beig found all over the place, needing temporary homes while their parents are located (alive, or otherwise). Pray that the families in Baton rouge will be moved to care for these orphans as their own.
James 1:27 "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this : to look after (care for) orphans and widows in their distress and to keep ones self from being polluted by the world."

Have great day everybody!!!! And as soon as Pat remembers to bring home the cable for our camera, I'll start posting pics!!!
